My Journey
Every innovation starts with a problem, and every solution starts with understanding. My journey into AI for the construction industry wasn't planned in a lab; it was forged over two decades on site, in project meetings, and driven by a relentless desire to build better.
My career didn't begin in an office. It started on the tools, with 15 formative years as a plumber. Those years taught me the language of the site – the unspoken challenges, the real-world pressures, and the critical importance of getting things right the first time. It’s an understanding that’s become the bedrock of everything I do. I know what it means to work with your hands, to solve problems on the fly, and to see a project through from its raw beginnings to a functional reality. This hands-on experience in the MEP sector wasn't just a job; it was an invaluable education in the practicalities of construction that no classroom can replicate.
Driven by a passion to improve how we build, I transitioned from the tools into management. Over the next decade, I embraced roles from Site Supervisor through to Senior Construction Manager, Mechanical Project Engineer, Project Manager, and ultimately, Project Director. Each step brought new perspectives, managing large teams, complex supply chains, and multi-million-pound MEP projects. I learned the intricacies of project lifecycles, the weight of contractual obligations, and the constant pursuit of efficiency and excellence from a leadership viewpoint.
Despite the progress, I consistently saw recurring frustrations: information overload, communication gaps, and inefficiencies that seemed ripe for a smarter approach. The 'Aha!' moment came when I started to explore the world of Artificial Intelligence. I saw not just a new technology, but a powerful ally – a way to amplify human expertise, streamline complex processes, and bring a new level of predictability and intelligence to the construction industry I knew so intimately.
Recognising this potential, I dedicated myself to mastering this new frontier. I proudly completed the Oxford Artificial Intelligence course, delving deep into AI's strategic implications and practical applications. This, coupled with ongoing professional development through IBM's comprehensive AI programs, has moulded me into a proficient Vibe Coder and has equipped me with the skills to not just envision AI solutions, but to build and implement them effectively within our industry.
Romenter.AI was born from a simple belief: the people building our world deserve the best possible tools to do it. My mission is to bridge the gap between the seasoned wisdom of the construction site and the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence.
